Faster Assimiliation

Second semester. Surprisingly, I felt more part of the college than I had ever been. For once, I didn't feel like the introvert I had been at the beginning of the semester.

And now I can't get this song out of my head. This song...Dream Academy's Life in a Northern Town (dance mix). I hear it once when I was going through Gap and I had the urge to download it. Unfortunately, I didn't know the title...and nor did anybody else. And now to think it was an eighties title. TSK! Actually it's strange that I like more eighties music now. Eeeeeeew and just right in the middle of the condemning pop scene. Right at the right moment.

After a light dim sum (yes, I am a picky eater...) in Oakland with my family, I headed over to my grandmother's apartment to set up her computer. To my disgust, American Online was set up on her computer...by...her classmate. And sigh, her classmate had installed a Chinese language thingie so that whenever I had my cursor over a word, a program would attempt to pronouce the word and provide a pop-up definition in Chinese. Okay, helpful to my English-handicapped grandmother but not that helpful to my computer proficience. Okay, patience Jenn...patience!!! That ugly quote from The Mummy comes into mind. "Patience is a virtue." Yada yada. My hand itched a lot to uninstall AOL, but to my parents' insistence, I had to keep it there.

My grandmother's computer game from Hong Kong was cool though...and easy. Unfortunately I only got to number 7 of the top 10. Geez. Clear the all top scores list!

When I got back to my dorm, I noticed that Alston had called. He came over in thirty minutes...to deliver my belated X-mas gift. I can't thank him enough though. AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!! A nice CD/mp3 player. :) Although quite frankly, the instruction booklet afterwards put me to sleep. Very nice. Now, I have to decide where I should start being the teeny-bopper. First thing to put on my CDs with mp3s is...Dream Academy's Life in a Northern Town (dance mix), of course!!! Maybe I'll put all Moby's albums. Maybe.

By 4:30 pm (Alston had already left), I was beginning to feel a bit isolated. It's quite ridiculous though. Last night before I went to sleep, a wave of isolation had swept over me for no reason. It was almost like heartbreak. Too bad my logic and rationality hadn't kicked in yet. Yeah really. After heading to the bathroom (need I provide details?), I heard a voice call, "Jennifer?" It was Amy! :) The word, dinnermate, popped in my mind. It turned out that she had gotten her wisdom teeth out the same day as I did. Yes, another sufferer! And she did have puffy cheeks too! I am not the only one!!! YAY! We went to the DC and had soft foods. Actually, I didn't like the food. Bleh, I could tell it going to be a start of another picky food cycle. Nonetheless, I sat down with Amy and two other girls. Doink...Jenn a social animal? Naaaaaaah.

Amy was curious about Alan (surprisingly). Hee! Mostly after I told her that we visited the Santa Monica pier. Awww...and she thought Alan was cute. This must be a sign to put more pictures up on my wall. Yes. Of course.

After she left, I got the strangest message.
sweetieD: (6:34 PM) BUR! PEOPLE DID SOMETHING TO YOUR ROOOM!
sweetieD: (6:34 PM) BAI!
Tink: (6:34 PM) wha? what happened?
sweetieD: (6:34 PM) IT GOT SANITIZED!
sweetieD: (6:34 PM) GOOD BAI NOW!

My younger sister. Sigh, my room at home is in danger. Sigh.
