The Amazing Feat of the Sun

Monday, February 12th 2001 11:06PM

I remember this line from Solarmax at the Chatbot Space and Science Center:
The sun sets, but it also rises.

And I heard that somewhere else too.

So this veil of loneliness cast upon me...cannot last too long. It can be lifted or perhaps be cast away. I never knew there were so many songs about missing someone.

Less than five hours ago, I leaned against the cold steel column, looking out into the landscape. The airplane slowly pulled out of the terminal pushed by a small tow. One worker said something to the other. The other tossed his head back and laughed. Can he see me?, I thought. Probably not through these windows...or those windows. A plane colored in gold had started toward the runway. The plane where he was in...slowly moved to the center of the wet blacktop and turned toward the setting sun. As it moved toward the runway, I raced from window to window, trying to keep it into vision. All of sudden, it disappeared. I went to the opposite side. There it was, almost being enveloped by the distant sky. I could almost hide it with my thumb. Spinning on my heel, I turned and walked out of the airport into the cold frigid air, alone.

Yes, drama. :)

Flash of memories:
Walking in the rain through a dark campus
Flabberghasted that our weight can truly be the same (now how often do you find girls willing to tell their weight?)
The memory capturer, the geek essence, the digital camera
Entering my room and finding roses on my bed...that weren't there before...
Grabbing Alan's red (cold?) ear
Having my hair blow into Alan's face everywhere and all the time
Wanting to be close, but instead jabbing my elbow into Alan's chest (whoops?)
Bex keeping her opinion to herself (gross!!! haha)
Looking out at the Bay Area in an outlook in the Chabot Space and Science center :)
Alan trying to survive in the HOLE
Watching the sea lions in Pier 39
Being pulled into the Fudge factory by the scent of chocolate
Watching Alan trying to do Spanish homework
Watching Alan do his stuff on DDR <--addiction
Watching Alan lie in his sleeping bag...like a burrito
Alan taking notes for me in Astrobiology
Sharing breakfast...and later lunch on Monday
Indigestion from the DC
Goodnight kisses

Oski and Pandi sit on the edge of my bed. The bouquet of roses--red, white, and blue--lie on the edge of my desk. They still smell incredibly fresh. The sleeping bag leans against the foot of the bed in the same area where Alan slept. The Bearcade tokens still are scattered all over my messy desk. Alan's presence still wavers around me, almost like a ghost. (No not ghost's milk. :p) No, looking at the empty space beside me can't be that sad. Or sitting alone in the DC, lectures, buses, BART, my bed, the couch in the common area...or walking throough the campus with nobody to hold onto...
Nah, the sun will rise again.
