another complex

The fifties was an era of drugs, sex, and rock 'n roll.

After getting up at 10 today, I dragged myself all the way over to the Hillside Residence Hall to meet up with Alston for lunch. Yes, he was still sleeping when I arrived. And I, being me, thought I was going to be late...decided to wear my incredibly thick glasses. Without the glasses (or contacts for that matter), I would be blind as a bat.
His roommate Jeff answered the door. As Alston went to the bathroom to "freshen up", Jeff and I discussed a bit about raving...since I just told him that I was interested in techno/trance music. (<--conversation starter?!!!) Yet, then he asked me if I ever took any E. Suddenly, my entire complex about the "evil" side of college came flooding back--drinking and drugs...sigh.

Personally, I have never taken any drugs nor have I ever drank. Yes, there were the occasional sips to tatse. As for drugs, never in my entire life. I remember in Newsweek, a few weeks ago, they did a poll on whether drinking was revelant in college. The majority of those polled said that drinking was just a characteristic of college and nothing more. The minority was those who never took a sip during college. I remember several weeks ago, when one friend asked me if I ever drank. Then few weeks ago, my dorm neighbor asked me if I ever drank. Then another friend accused me that I should drink...to loosen my so-called social anxiety. Then one lectured me on how drinking was prevalent in Europe and that it was just for fun. Yada yada...and I remember overhearing my roommate discuss drugs etc. How some people cannot attend a rave without E. Ugh, total complex is being formed. :(

I sat in Alston's room for awhile just chatting with the two of them. Jeff showed me his math homework that was doused with rum. Hmm...okay. Then I noticed the empty beer cans on the side. Um. Oookay. Wild night there.

I think now I have a very good reason not to attend frat parties. And a good reason that I don't do anything exciting on Friday nights. In conclusion, I feel like a minority.
