There Will Come Soft Rains

I remember reading Ray Bradbury's short story There Will Come Soft Rains freshman year for English I in high school. I had been skipping ahead in The Martian Chronicles and I got to this story. It was late at night when my eyes first peered at words describing a self-contained house in a fictional near future. It made me cry, because the house was just so naive...so unaware of reality. It could never understand that the family had disappeared. The title origianlly comes from Sara Teasdale's poem, "There will come soft rains" that ironically described how life goes on even after a war and even if there is no point of going on...

Well, I had indigestion today again. Hehe, Man said that I would...after eating the dried cranberries that I am addicted to. And I did. :)

Today, I realized how I took for granted living in the dorm. Ahn, my new future roommate, dragged me all the way down Hearst Avenue to check out an apartment. When we looked inside, I was...well to say the least, dismayed. Because we planned to have four people total, were going to have to have a bedroom to two people. The apartment had two bedrooms. One was so puny. Knowing how Xing is, I know that I probably would agree to live with an undesirable environment just for her sake. Tsk, she complains too much! Bleh, no offense. However, the one thing that I had worried the most was the bathroom. Personally I dislike all bathrooms, but this one was actually quite nice. The landlord had it remodeled, except for the cupboards which were like the ones in Clark Kerr--boards just nailed into wood. Yet I also began worrying about how far the apartment was. I imagined myself walking in the dark next semester. Ugh, and this far? About ten blocks away from campus. The good thing about the dorms...I just realized is: direct internet access, prepared food (despite its taste), maid service in the bathrooms and hallways, proximity to the campus, abundance of programs meant to help students, lots of people to ask about homework...
Ugh, no more. :(
