I stepped foot upon the campus again today. It almost seemed like I never left. My mom dropped me off at my apartment complex. I moved in the dining table...and some other random stuff. Then after twenty minutes of loafing around, I ran down to the North Gate to meet up with Catherine. Then we went to Sather Gate to meet my sister's friend, Cliff. She had given his sn to me, because she wanted to ya know...share the wealth. But sometimes, things backfire.
We headed off the Calapalooza. Unfortunately this time around, there wasn't much to entertain us. I had this desperate need to find my chilhood friend, Jody Wong. Yet, never could find her. And besides, I haven't seen her for almost 10 years. I would think she would have gotten taller at least...sorta...maybe. Emily, my new roommate, came with us...then later Catherine's friend Thomas joined us in the desperate hunt for something truly entertaining. Yes. Then we wandered the rest of the time, aimlessly heading nowhere.
Last year, I remember heading to the Calapalooza by myself. I didn't know what to expect, but thought...well why not...I was staying the night. Then I looked down the line and spotted Alston. Like most college freshmen in desperate need of attention, I leeched onto him. That is, I just was..around...too often. We went around the fair. I distinctly remember eating my lunch near a silver metal looking beverage container. Then I got two ice cream thingies...and went to a pay phone near Unit 1 to call L&L. I remember dropping my poor juice bar. Then I had headed off down Bancroft with Alston to buy a bicycle pump. I had been amazed that he was using a credit card. At that time, I didn't even have a debit card. Not that my parents didn't trust me...they thought it was entirely useless to build a credit history. Besides, look at my spending history and realize how thrifty I really am.
Then I headed back to the apartment with Emily. Somehow I could feel the psuedo-nostalgia creeping in. I missed a lot last year...mostly because I was a fall extension freshmen. Huff. Then again, did I really try? Even in the dorms, I was pretty distant. I barely knew anybody...and stayed home most of welcome week.
Yet, anyway I saw Linda. Same Linda! :) It was the first time that all of us (all three roommates) were there together. It was entirely neato. However, after that, I visited Kathy all the way on the other side of campus. It was yet another tiring walk. I showed her the Alaskan cruise pictures. Amazed, of course. Then I walked back to my apartment. However, the usual occured. Cliff the dude called while I was in a hunt for toilet paper. So yes I was jumping around the apartment. Good thing my roommates weren't there. Anyway, I got him to give me a free dinner at the Unit 2 DC, neglecting the fact that my mom already had prepared a dinner for me. I was very surprised when he suddenly mentioned, "What? You don't have any friends? You have been hanging around me for almost the entire day!"
Huff.
I can't wait until my Earthlink DSL kit arrives.
