New Years' Resolution: To be a better person for myself and everyone else.

Breakdown of 2001:
January: Greatest happiness plus the realization of bittersweet imperfection
February: Insecurity
March: Hope subsided
April: Misunderstanding the concept of disaster
May: Heartbroken but supported
June: Comforted by the strength of friendship
July: Confused, angered by the weakness of friendship
August: Acceptance
September: New beginnings of false beliefs
October: Struggle of desires
November: Gold is only but silver
December: Reconcilation

A week before, I had believed that I would spend yet another new years at home in front of the TV. Well, okay it somewhat turned out to be like that, but better. :)

I had been asking Stacee about her plans for New Years and we planned to go to Jack London Square. Well, sorta. I asked to go. So approximately around 5:30 pm (after I had finished sending my nifty package to a guy in Riverside and making crepes from a batter tained with self-rising flour), my sis and I drove to Alameda. So it took forever to drive down Santa Clara Avenue to pick up Stacee and Brando. In the darkness, I couldn't make out the right house...and unfortunately Stacee didn't have reception on her cell. Somehow by luck, I stumbled upon the right basement. Scary white people. I don't know what it is...maybe we have significant different beliefs that cause me to take a step back in discomfort. Nonetheless, we drove again...all the way across the island to pick up Simon and promptly head off to Jack London Square. The last time we went there was the LEO incident. No, it's not documented in my journal. But let's just say that it was a horrible, strange strange day. Got to see Romeo Must Die for free. :) Bonus!
After eating at Tony Roma's, we circled around JLS for awhile until out of exhaustation, I plopped down near a fountain. Brando seemed a bit uneasy when a random guy came up to us asking whether we smoked Chinese herb. Then the guy told us how his life was being changed. Right. I would have like to humored him...but social anxiety overtook me. My sis had discovered that there was no New Years celebration in Jack London. Cancellation because of the heightened risk of terrorist attacks.
After a few phone calls, we decided to head to my house in Lafayette. Of course, we listened to the Jimmy Eat World Clarity album all the way there. Lucky Denver Mint!!! There, somehow out of generosity, my parents had prepared a table full of new years' food. Apple cider. Cookies. The failed attempt to make crepes. Coca Cola. And...two glass bottles of nonalcoholic beer. Yes, there's such a thing.
I took a picture of my sister drinking one. :)
We watched New Years' Celebration on a combination of channels. Yes. We were the ultimate remote jumpers. Bounce bounce! Okay, so the passing of midnight was quite dull. Yet in some way, it was better than last year which I spent living a fantasy...that was barely true.

I drove Simon back to Alameda where he cocked his head in his funny way. Then we drove to my apartment. Indeed, I got obsessed with the power of DSL. Let's not mention what I exactly did during that time.

And my last words to Stacee and Brando before leaving my humble abode were, "Now don't get into any trouble!"
Should have also added, "Don't do anything I would do."

So utlimately, Happy New Year!
