Changing attitudes.

I used to think that Macintoshes and Netscape was da bomb. But now...they're clunky...slow...in other words, they should be put in a convalescent home (to put it lightly).

Earlier today, because Randy the RCC never showed up for the Sunday appointment, I went all the way to Unit 3 again. I nearly withered in the chilling cold sitting on the "nicely" magenta painted benches outside. Yes, in all insanity, I had decided to simply wear a shirt. Three words: I was freezing.
Eventually Randy the RCC showed up. Of course, due to those little social anxieties, I almost backed away (ya know, fleeing to the corner, because life IS scary). Nevertheless, this was Randy the RCC. It's funny though...I could only recognize him because I remembered the color of his cell phone (and also the fact that he pulled out a palm pilot during a unit meeting<--now constantly making notes on a pda is a sign of major geekdom). It was amusing though...anyway, we went up to a resident's room to check up on a printer (hmm...I hope I not violating rescomp rules by telling this story though--confidentiality is a major thing around here). The funny thing was that the resident was using an imac. Hah, let's test Randy the RCC's ability to work with Macintoshes. So the printer was being weird...but eventually he solved it. Note the he. Although I am a RCC intern, I could barely think of anything to help the poor resident. Sad to say, I have used Macintoshes the first half of my life. When the resident stepped out of the room for a moment, Randy the RCC noted that Macs were "complicated". Sure sure. Too simple actually. On Monday, we were trained in the Mac Obstacle course. I was somewhat insulted and dismayed when the presenters kept contrasting the mac os with the windows os. Mac came first with that interface!!! :p And guess who thought of the concept of a trash can? Huh huh! Then again...I suppose the words recycle bin is more well...applicable to a computer.
And so on and so forth. It was amusing to me when Randy the RCC was insulted when I said he looked like his brother. Okay okay, I don't want anybody to say that I look like my sister. And note: I DO NOT look like my sister at all. :p "Well, uh...you have the same last name!"

I have been lolling around on the computers in the Moffit library. Somehow in all insanity, they have condemned us to the use of Netscape. Sigh, and the pages that I usually visit...agh, some things just won't work...or even show up. :p And to think I was condemning myself to Netscape just a little over a year ago, when I used a puny laptop. Reminder to self: bring laptop. Be a true geek. :)
