Disorientation

They had not prepared well. It was my second time doing it. I was wearing a suite and a tie. There I stood in front of a cheering audience trying to pull off the unprepared script. The co-host and I trotted back and forth on the stage. The costumes were bright and creative. "Then there he goes...what could that possibly be...another clown!!!" Then it was done. We smiled for the group photo. I was on the top, yet I scurried away from the group in my usual isolation.
I looked back at the tape and realized how terrible it went. Yet I also realized that this show would be digitized. Instant fame that would prove that truly I am an extroverted introverted individual.
Then there was buzzing. BUZZ. BUZZ. BUZZ.

My eyes popped open. Okay, 9 AM in the morning. The room was empty. The phone was ringing. I walked in a sleepful state and grabbed to phone to let the listener hear my voice. "Hello?...Hello?" I said groggily.
"Hello. May I speak with Jennifer?"
My usual response was "Jennifer Lee?"
Silence on the other end.
Finally after a minute of struggle, it got clarified that the call was for me. It was the admissions office calling to say that somehow somewhere in insanity, Laney did not send the complete transcript. How annoying. I went "uh huh" for the next few minutes.
Once I got off the phone I realized what I was supposed to do this lovely morning. Study for tomorrow's psych midterm. Let's just see if I can even study at all...
