*sneeze*

Friday, November 9th 2001 08:56PM

My sister put sprayed too much of her scented antibacterial wash. It's making me sneeze.

I got barely three hours of sleep.

I arrived at the Oakland airport around 6:10 am. My flight was scheduled to depart at 7:15 am. Last time, I checked, it was ON TIME. The check-in wasn't that long either. The airline representative simply asked me two questions - whether I had left my belongings with anybody or left it unattended. No. Then he directed me toward Terminal 1. As I approached the entrance to the gates, I felt at ease. The line seemed to only wrap around the corner. It didn't seem that long. However, when I finally was able to look at the corridor, I began panicking. The line was horrendously long. I began hoping. The woman across from me was on her cellphone complaining about how the agent informed her that she might miss her flight. Then the woman behind me started ranting about how she was glad that she came early. Her flight was at 9:30 am. It was only an hour wait. An hour wait. It was 6:30 am already. I decided not to truly panic until 7 am. As the minutes ticked by, I began wondering...too much extra messy stuff I would have to do if I missed the flight. If I missed it, then I would have to go standby on the next one, which wouldn't be that bad, since people aren't interested in flying at this time. But all that waiting in line...AGH! Hope hope. I once arrived at an airport at 7:55 am when my flight was well...at 7:55 am. I got on that flight. However, things are different now.

My hoping helped. Or at least, my luck had never betrayed me...yet.

At 7 am, I was about to put on my puppy dog face and hoped that the security officials would take pity on me. Then they would let me cut in line. Fortunately, I didn't have to embarrass myself like that. At 7:03 am, I got pass the security official. Then I had to go through the long line of security monitoring. Panic. Suddenly, the official pointed to a station that had just opened. I rushed toward it. The people ahead of me were slowly taking off their carry-on. Then slowly putting it all on the x-ray machine. It was 8:07 when I finally got past the security checkpoint. 7:15 am. Deadline.
I rushed toward the gate. Unfortunately gate 14 just happened to be all the way at the end of the terminal. I walked quickly...past the gate where I had said goodbye to Alan...the last good goodbye. I made it. Breathlessly, I gave them my id and my printout. I was on board.

When I got to the San Diego Airport, I was excited. What wonders would lie in front of me here... I would finally get to meet Thomas, a friend that my sis had been raving about. I dragged my carry-on to the baggage claim. I immediately recognized Thomas, who was with two other guys. Okiay, so it was strange to finally meet someone that my sister had talked about...for the longest time. We got my baggage and went to UCSD.

I haven't been to the campus for two years. Then in the distance, I saw a familiar figure. My sis! :D

I went BEEP! BEEP BEEP!

I was dragged to her discussion, which got cancelled. Then I finally got to spend some time in her on-campus apartment. It was different from the residence halls in Berkeley and definitely from my current apartment.

Her math lecture was incredibly intimidating. Or just proof of how superior Berkeley is. ;) Hah. The instructor, dressed in pink, strutted back and forth in front of the chalkboard, muttering about how the recent midterm was supposed to test the students ability to understand thet material. Her jokes were rather dry and sarcastic. She sharply demanded that cellphones be turned off when someone's cell started to ring. I spent most of the 50 minutes coming up with ideas for my philosophy paper and basically dozing off.

After my sis took a brief nap, we went to her friend Derek's apartment for a Nikkei Student Union dinner. It was pretty sociable and to say the least, interesting. We went to four different places for an appetizer, main dishes, and dessert. Can we say that I was a little dismayed by the presence of alcohol. BOO! Vodka jello? Interesting, but no. The pink cake was good nonethless. I met Angie, Richard, Derek, Randall and John. Yup, several names off the top of my head. Afterwards, we spent about 30 minutes chatting in the parking lot.

My sis dragged me with her to make her rounds. I got to meet Evan. I had met Jimmy earlier in the day and saw him again playing cards. Interesting guy. "You look tired," he kept repeating. Yes, I was tired. With three hours of sleep. Then we went back to see Wilson, Steve and Samuel. All three interesting guys.

First things first...does Doreen have any friends...that happen to be girls? BEEP!
