Today, I decided to turn on my webcam and have it ftp the images every ten seconds to my webpage. Heh, didn't even tell uh...the roommates about it. Hopefully, nobody noticed. Most of all, I doubt that anybody saw anything. When I returned, I saw that somehow the ftp server stopped working at 7:30 pm. It got only darkness. So that means my dorm has been empty for almost...probably more than two hours. Maybe more. I left my dorm at 1 pm and returned at 8 pm.
Speaking of which, today was my MAC obstacle course. I felt so silly doing it though. Being the punctual person I am, I nearly freaked out when I saw it was 6:43 pm in Kathy's room (unfortunately kathy's computer wasn't connected to the ethernet yet...so no remotely watching my room). I ran frantically to Unit 1 when I nearly crashed into Sherri. "Am I late?" I exclaimed. "It's only 7 pm."
So much for being punctual. Berkeley time=ten minutes late. When I arrived to the Unit 1 conference room, I saw only two desktops set up. *gag* And I also saw Kathy (the head of the RCC internship) and Eric (the unit 1 supervisor)...*gag* one for each computer. Then suddenly Noam (another unit supervisor) came in. *gag* three rcc internship people and two rcc interns. Alas, the pressure!
Nevertheless, I got started with my obstacle course. Clearly, I was embarrassed when I couldn't find the processor speed and the amount of memory. "Apple profiler," Eric said. But the apple profiler wasn't there. "Usually, it's marked on the computer." DUH! Then I barged on. Everything was easy...but because I had an impatient look on my face, Kathy and Eric kept coming around thinking that I had trouble with the worksheet.
Then I had to restart the computer to see whether my configuration with the network was successful. I wanted to see if I could use netscape and watch my webcam. Unfortunately...the computer took forever to load. I began spinning around and around in my chair. It took forever! Technically, I had already finished my worksheet at 8:20 pm, but because the Mac took forever to load the programs--a waste of nearly forty minutes...I was the second to leave. Sigh, I wanted to repeat my similar dramatic "hah, i know how to use IT better than you can!!!! bwahahahahaha!" exit. Unfortunately, the Macintosh wasn't cooperating with me.
And to think that I was going to get a Macintosh for my dorm. The first part of my computer life was surrounded by Macintoshes. I had never thought of them as evil. Also, for CS 3, they use macintoshes. MacGambit. Oh oh speaking of which, they have the lectures online. Perhaps, you'll see me go by...in a frantic search for a seat. Today I sat with Bex and I complained that Marisol didn't call me last Friday. And to think...Apple Macintoshes once ruled my world.
AGH! Gates! Gates' fault!
Thus in conclusion (with my illogical mind): an apple a day keeps the doctor away.
Btw, I would just like to add. I just checked the answering machine. Four new messages. None of which was for me. One for Jen L. One for Simran. Two for Kia. I am going to reiterate Jenn's declaration of a few weeks ago (obviously, it does not apply to her now): "NOBODY EVER CALLS ME!!!!"
