better the self

An everpresent question that people would ask is…\”what do you want to change about yourself? what one body part would you want perfected?\”

Most people would say their flab. Their arms. Their belly. Their legs. Too much fat. Too much jiggling.

For me, it\’s teeth. I think it\’s genetic. It runs in the family. That we all struggle with having non-perfect teeth. I gave up years ago to smile without showing teeth. Then I realized that people don\’t notice anyway. They don\’t look at the teeth (unless there\’s some obvious demarcation) in photos. So I smile brightly even though I am showing my own insecurity.

There are things about body health that people brought on themselves. I dislike how doctors look down at these people. As if they are not good people because they didn\’t take care of themselves.

That\’s what is wrong with society. At least American society. We are taught in school, at least those of who excel academically, that our grades reflect our goodness. The goodness, the thing that we value so much, the reason that we can live. The acceptance. And as a result of having such poor grades, we feel so…hurt…so pained. That it\’s a reflection of our goodness and ultimately our failure.
