A thing to look forward to

Sometimes I don\’t check a particular e-mail account until I get home. Only because I want to be surprised pleasantly. By serendipity.

Most of the time, it\’s not.

But there are times like today that I got home and checked my e-mail. And there it was. No matter what, I am always glad to get an e-mail from Ben. Despite how much he was and is the fling, we have never treated each other without respect. Or the joking manner. Even when we were in Pittsburgh, whenever we saw each other, we greeted each other enthuastically. We never showed disappointment or dismay. We always showed how happy we were to see each other. And that\’s how our e-mails are like. Our updates on lives. Our jokes. Him more prodding me than him. Conversational and never overly serious. And it\’s like we\’re friends. Comfortable friends.

Unlike Andy, I can rely on him. But he\’s not anybody to me. He\’s just Ben.

Wait a minute, Ben ditched me in Boston. Ok, nevermind. I am still pissed about that.
