She said, \”I am a little annoyed that you don\’t think it\’s worth it.\”
I balked at the text that appeared in the window.
Great. So I immediately detailed my rationale as she spurted out ok, we\’ll see.
I actually only attend the events because I find the people interesting, but for them to support my career path? Unlikely. I went to at least 3 or 4 events and found that people were business-oriented. Networking was a crock and I would rather stick to interaction design association type things. She knew from the very beginning that admission fee often prevents people from attending. And I know from experience, this often was a difficult barrier to cross.
So why give me grief? She knows that I am not the entrepreneurship type. I do have that slight innovation slant, but I would rather someone else come up with the problem…and I design it. Maybe if this was the first time I met people, but it isn\’t. It\’s the second, third, fourth time. I don\’t need to be reminded that twenty dollars is un-justified as I spend more time describing what I do and leaving with a stack of business cards that most often than not, don\’t go anywhere…
