First Day

It was better I think than I expected.

But at the beginning, I walked in and faced with a group of people that seemed to be waiting. At first, I was surprised because the initial email said to arrive between 9:45 and 10 am. And I certainly was early, but everyone was there so much earlier. But it didn’t matter.

But everyone seemed separate. A little separated.

I saw one woman who seemed to be nervous and a bit frantic. I might have stared at her too long. But soon it was easy, photos taken. Usehred into a room where we first did intros, then some orientation stuff like maps, badges, benefits, etc.

Nobody asked me about ice cream!

I was surprised though when I was brought into the lunch by Mike and Raff. At first, I was impressed that it was the two of them, but disappointed that both had to depart for a meeting. So instead, I was led by the premium team around. And they asked what i wanted to eat. And in my usual cheery voice, “Ah, you must know…not sandwiches. Also not pizza. Not melted cheese!”

And so that’s how I ended up at Chipotle. But then from there, I was led back to the 17th floor and a chair seat. But then I was surrounded by so many people I didn’t know. How did this lunch thing work? Did people just get up and eat? Then I was going to be super anxious with this. But I think that I met with Marissa who I later confused for Emily who seemed rather engaged. And Jordan was okay. But then I couldn’t remember much of anyone else.
